My family recently restored a windmill that was originally used to pump water. The height is 40 feet. The blades are 4 foot each with an 8 foot diameter. The motor was bought by this company: http://www.aermotorwindmill.com/ and that is exactly how it works (in the moving diagram).
Right now the windmill is used for decoration and does nothing other than have the shaft at the bottom of the motor move up and down.
How can I make this work for us and reduce our electric bill? What will it consist of? Approximately how much will the improvements cost in the Bowling Green, Kentucky area do you think?

We just bought this house a few months ago and we had to pay a connection fee but after that they have only charged us $4.90 a month, any idea why it might be doing that? What should I do?
We are going through hard times right now and we could REALLY use the extra cash, but I am worried about what might happen if I do not report this to them.
I’m not talking about never paying them back but if we could get away with just not having to stress over paying this bill until after the holidays when we are on our feet a little better it would be really great for us.

I live in the Southeast and have always lived in homes with electric heat. My husband and I are considering buying a home with very high ceilings, and the house also uses natural gas. I am concerned about the higher cost of gas heating in compare to electric heating. Is it possible to switch your energy source? How much would it cost and would it be worthwhile?

I have a Dell laptop that I just bought. Have the following questions:
1. When not using should I unplug power cord? If no should I shut down?
2. Should I leave blank cards in ports when computer is on and not using port (ex: slot for inserting camera memory card has blank to protect from dust when not in use) ?
3. I was trying to install Money 2002 and it said it might need to update Operating system (has VISTA on it) in order to install Money 2002 so I just backed off not wanting to damage OS, the Money 2002 CD I have came with a Windows 98 or XP computer I purchased, can’t remember which one?
Thank you in advance wise ones

Hi everyone, I just bought a music system from the US, a BOSE WAVE music system. This is a very compact system but with a superior sound quality. I knew on forehand I’d have to use a voltage converter / power transformer to be able to use it, but now I’m looking for one I’m not sure what to choose. The system works on 110V, 50/60Hz and 60W. So I’ll just get a converter that provides more than 60W (like 100W). I just want to make sure if it’s safe to use those compact ‘travel’ converters. I often read they are meant for equipment like hairdryers, or shaving machines - is it recomendable to use it on this rather expensive music device?? I wonder whether there are people who are using compact converters for media devices as well. There are ‘meant to be high quality converters’ on the market, but they are massive, heavy and almost as big as the music system itself. So, will a compact travel converter work on my US Bose music system and won’t it cause any harm?? Thanks a lot! Tim

I live in an apartment that was building in the 1970’s. The baseboard heaters are probably the original heaters. The one in the living room doesn’t work at all. The ones in the bedrooms do work, but don’t keep a steady temperature. One minute it will be over 80 next time only 60 degrees. I have been noticing that when my wife uses the vacuum or uses any electrical appliance that the circuit breaker kicks the circuit and anything on that electrical line would be off. We only have a computer, TV, and a lamp using the line. If we plug anything extra into the line between the living room and master bedroom the circuit breaker breaks the power. We are moving in July. We have contacted the landlord about the living room heater with no response. We finally bought a small ceramic space heater to heat the living room. The space heater is used in the kitchen on the other electrical line. That line has always been all right. Should we be concerned about a fire?

I was advised on a previous question to use 3 small step down transformers with resistor between phases (delta?) and connect secondary to “wye” for common ground. This is starting to make sense to me. Could someone please elaborate and maybe provide a website with schematics for this? Also, where would I find the materials for this project? Know of a good reference regarding analyses and balancing voltages of a rotary phase converter, preferably using an oscilloscope? I bought this Tektronix 2246 4 channel scope, I’ll be darned if I don’t use it soon. Thanks.

Okay, I have two questions about campground electrical current. They are VERY different questions. If you can answer both questions - great! If you can answer only one, that’s fine too. However, PLEASE - if you decide to answer - know what you’re writing about.
Question 1: I have a pop-up camper wired for 30-amp service. The guy I bought it from included a sack of parts, including an adapter that accepts the 3-pronged 30-amp, and plugs into a standard 3-pronged household outlet. Can I plug this into my home electrical plug without damaging the camper or my home circuitry? What if I take the camper to a campground to that has only the 110 service. Will it tear-up anything, or just give less power?
Question 2: Let’s say I take my TENT to a campground that only has the 30-amp service. I have seen adapters that would let me plug a standard 120-v into a 30-amp connecter — but would it fry my power strip, and everything plugged-into it?
Thanks in advance
