I am from the Philippines and I am kind of alarmed by this one.
Recently, there has been frequent blackouts in our place. Unfortunately, everytime this happens, I am using my computer… browsing the net, sometimes games, movies..
My question is, how does that affect my computer? Does it have serious effects or something? I really want to know because I might consider buying an Uninterrupted Power Supply for this if I would know it is that dangerous.
Thanks in advance.

Depends on your power supply,if you use the old ones then you are in trouble!
It can burn down your hardware when you turn it on next time(that happened to me on my old pc(same prob))
e-mail me at Jelena8@nadlanu.com with your specs and i will find a perfect power supply for you.

As long as everything computer related is plugged into a surge protector you should be fine.
This happens so often and unexpectedly at my location that after years I broke down and added a UPS to the system. Luckily nothing has ever been damaged other than losing what ever I was currently working on from the last scheduled save.
