I PAY A GOOD SUM OF $ FOR RENT AND THE LAND LORD WILL NOT FIX ANY PRTOBLEMS, LIKE THE HEAT DO NOT WORK IN THIS HOUSE. THE ELECTRICITY IS FAULTY AND I USE TO HAVE PROBLEMS W/ REPTILES COMMING IN THE HOUSE OVER THE SUMMER, THERE ANSWER WAS TO MOVE, WHEN I DID APP’S FOR OTHER PLACES HE GAVE ME A BAD REFERENCE. I AM TRYING TO BUY A HOUSE SO I DON’T WANT TO MOVE AND TRANSFER SCHOOLS FOR MY CHILDREN, B/C IT IS NOT A BAD SPOT FOR THE MOMENT. THE QUESTION IS WAHT CAN I DO FOR HIM TO FIX THINGS AND HIM NOT PUT ME OUT WHEN MY LEASE RUNS OUT.

You could call the housing department.He has to fix it. Demand that he fix that stuff. If he doesn’t or tries to evict you could fight it in court. From what I know if they want to move you out with no good reason they have to pay you 5000 dollars half to find the spot then the other half when you move out. Thats what happened to my mom she got the 5000

It all depends on if you signed a lease and what the terms of the lease are. You may want to call your county Ombudsman and see what your choices are legally. I’ve learned this the hard way. If you contact anyone about getting things fixed you must get it in writing! Everything needs to be in writing to cover yourself! You can also take steps as far as reporting your landlord to the better business bureau.

Many times legal aid will help people deal with landlord issues (but there are income limits). Sometimes the attorney general for your state will handle them, too. You have the right to live in a decent place that’s up to your local building standards and to have your landlord comply with his end of the lease.

Definitely take him to court. I have seen plenty of cases on court shows where the landlord is doing exactly what yours is doing. Your lease states that he is responsible for repairs. And it might only take a court summons for him to fix everything. Do you live in a complex or just a single unit? The reason I was asking was if there were other renters going thru the same thing. If there were then you may be able to join with them and split the attorney fee with you. But the courts will definitely favor you since you have children. Just have plenty of proof that everything is faulty. Like pictures, witnesses (which the other renters would be) and if possible have electricians and plumbers some in to give you an estimate of what repairs would be (on paper) to show the court what needs to be fixed. Landlords are required to hold liscenses within their state in order to provide public housing. Their buildings must be inspected which it sounds like yours would fail. He needs to be turned in. You can withhold rent until the heat the problems are repaired. Report him to the housing authority for where you live. You’ll owe him the back rent in the long run, but it will hurt him. You should double check any information that is given to you via the internet with your local housing authority. My advice is good for Connecticut.

if hes the landlord he needs to pay for keeping your place suitable to live in. Reptiles coming in the apartment is something he needs to find an answer for. Tell him either fix my problems or give me a good reference so we can say our goodbyes. This guys a dirtbag, Im pretty sure this might be something you could sue him over, ask someone like a lawyer, he might get you what you want.
