I’m not running a lot of appliances at the time or anything. I’m just doing the wash and then all of a sudden the stackable washer/dryer just dies.
So I go to the fuse box, flip the switch, and it turns back on.
It happened about a month ago and then twice tonight. Right now I’m not switching it back on; I’m going to call an electrician tomorrow.
But I was just wondering what would cause this to happen.
A couple of weeks ago I lost half the lights in my house after I ran a space heater for about 20 minutes. It was plugged in a different room from the washer. Again, I flipped the switches and everything came back on (but I haven’t used the space heater since).
I’ve lived here for eight years and nothing like this has ever happened.
The background is that this is an 83-year-old house; when I bought it I was told that it was re-wired back in the late ’80s, some 20 years ago.
Electricity Keeps Going Out On The Washer/dryer. What Does That Mean?

todays appliances nedd a lot of current and it is possible that the wiring in your house isn`t up to the job in hand.if your appliances are blowing the fuse box when you put washer/dryer,space heater on (look at what is blowing the fuse box)then your house needs rewiring sorry to say. when i put (look at what is blowing your fuse box) it seems that when you switch any type of heating element on it blows .
hope this helps
p.s. more than likely your wiring is breaking down

well your wiring may have not been replaced and the old system cannot keep up
but the electrician can answer your questions when he gets there

You need a new breaker, or relay switch. My brother moved to a new state. they bought a new washer and dryer. It kept going off…They called the store and they sent them a new set…LOL Same thing. They should have called a electrician from the get go…But we all learn…all is well with them…
