Dell Laptop, Unplug Or Leave Power Cord Connected To Electricity?

I have a Dell laptop that I just bought. Have the following questions:
1. When not using should I unplug power cord? If no should I shut down?
2. Should I leave blank cards in ports when computer is on and not using port (ex: slot for inserting camera memory card has blank to protect from dust when not in use) ?
3. I was trying to install Money 2002 and it said it might need to update Operating system (has VISTA on it) in order to install Money 2002 so I just backed off not wanting to damage OS, the Money 2002 CD I have came with a Windows 98 or XP computer I purchased, can’t remember which one?
Thank you in advance wise ones

You cannot install Money because it’s not compatible with Vista [which is full of bugs] Get rid of Vista and install XP and you can use Money. Use the battery until it runs down to about 5%. You will get a message that the battery is low and then plug it in, if not you will burn your battery. Batteries are designed to be discharged and recharged.

    1. Leave it plugged in and shut down so it’s not constantly draining the battery when not in use, then having to use more power to recharge when you do plug it in.
    2. If you want to, but those little memory card slots don’t commonly get too dirty (compared to, say, floppy drives)
    3. Run Windows Update and hope for the best.
